Soggy Sunday ~

Our day started cool and foggy, changed to sunny and oppressive, and then delivered a chain of heavy afternoon downpours that created the small lake on our fairway that always denotes really heavy rain.
M was up rather early whumping up an Egg McM and then a really tasty crustless quiche (as opposed to a tasteless crusty one). I had more of it for dinner, with a Costco hot dog for lunch. The advent of warm weather marks the re-emergence of M’s Summer Concern: getting frozen Costco purchases home before they melt. I had to battle this one down in order to have my Hot Dog Ritual, which I noted to her is the Secular Communion for the Costco Faithful. She was concerned because we had the highest-anxiety cargo aboard: frozen fish filets.
On the way home I rolled thru a traffic light that was, ahem, a bit pink, something I rarely do (honest!). M razzed me lightly about what excuse I’d have for the cop and I had the perfect retort: I told her I would say “Gee, Officer, I’m floundering around for an explanation for this one . . .”
Ba-bah-dah-BOOM. I got a million of ‘em.
We had nice chats with Caroline this morn, who entered her first show on her new lease-horse Mateo today and came home with a blue ribbon. Meanwhile, Rew & Corelyn called in to report they’ve now moved from their apartment on Wilshire Blvd to a duplex in Hollywood, directly under some good friends they’ve made since moving to LA. It’s more of a neighborhood and gives Corelyn ready access to good friends for the many hours Rew is off at school and shoots.
Meanwhile in Nashville: just like his father before him, Jacob (now 5) is the perfect Little Big Man who is prone to begin his comments on something you’ve just said with, “ACTually . . ” As Dr. Brado frequently notes, “It’s annoying how often he’s right.”
Today Holly took Jacob & Natalie to see the new Disney true-life epic, “Earth.” She reports:

‘Well, when the lions were attacking an adult elephant I was covering my eyes. Jake looked at me and said, “Mommy, it’s ok, it’s the circle of life.” Ahem, yes, you are correct. Let me remove my hands from my face now.’
Ahhh, the J-Man. Perfect.
Have a great week.
